Time To Remember

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

Based on a lecture by Elie Wiesel, Titled: “Confronting Fanatisism: Building Moral Unity in a Diverse Society”

He remembers what his mind has tried to forget or the emotions have silenced. Elie Wiesel, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner and holocaust survivor, spoke at St. Norbert College in September with his message of peace and hope-don’t be indifferent to injustice and don’t wait to act when tragedy occurs. Week One Part 2

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

Consider reducing your selection of beef, cheese and refried beans to more chicken, fish and seafood (not fried). French fries add up in calories very quickly — consider ordering a vegetable or salad in their place. Think about nutritional quality as well as quantity. Also, you cannot eat as many calories as your boyfriend — he has a higher metabolism than you. Keep this in mind when you eat together. (more…)

Week One Part 1

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Hello,
What a way to start a first week! We started moving on Saturday. Needless to say, this isn’t the ideal or typical week for me. Since we’ve been getting ready to move, we had no kitchen until the end of the week and have eaten out more than usual. We’re unpacking now, and we’ve unloaded some of our kitchen and made a few simple meals. (more…)

Investments for Kids

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Our 10-year-old son has saved up $1,000. Right now, it’s in the bank earning a measly 2% interest. Since he won’t be needing this money until he’s 16 (for a car) or maybe not until 18 (for college), where would his money make the best interest?

Sounds like you have an enterprising child who understands the importance of saving. Congratulations! (more…)

Different Ways to Finance Your Post 2

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Leading finance companies, on the other hand, understand your need because of the extent of their involvement in the industry. Also, they have repurchase agreements with your suppliers, allowing them to typically give 100 percent valuation for your new product inventory. More importantly, though, the finance company provides a free financing period based on subsidies provided by the supplier or manufacturer. Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

In the highly competitive environment today’s remarketer faces, the ability to provide value-added solutions to your customers is critical. Growth can provide the economies of scale required for the delivery of value-add, but in order to grow, your business needs capital. Initially your capital probably will come from personal funds. As your reseller business expands, other sources must be considered — each with its own advantages and disadvantages. And you will be required to continually make trade-offs between equity and debt.

Discount Stockbrokers

Monday, March 14th, 2011

I’m interested in playing the stock market. What sorts of fees do brokers charge? How much money should you have to work with? Does it make sense to use a broker rather than trying to do it yourself?

Paying Loans and Saving

Friday, February 25th, 2011

My husband and I are trying to be debt free. However, we have a disagreement. He says we should concentrate all reserve cash on paying down our debts. I say we should concentrate a large bulk of it on paying down but should also save, to help eliminate the need to charge again, to break the cycle.

A Tragic Death Compounded by Injustice

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

This is a discussion by author, Lorah Delaney, on the aftermath of the death of Diane Whipple in San Francisco and the struggle for recognition of her partner, Sharon Smith.

Everyone I’m sure has heard of the terrible death of Diane Whipple in San Francisco. A dog brutally and fatally attacked her, as she tried to enter her apartment. The circumstances and details of this abominable event are not the focus here. The aftermath of the tragedy strikes home again the need for continued advocacy and equality for lesbians and gays.
