You don’t have to be a marathoner to reap benefits from exercise. Retired, nonsmoking men who walked two miles or more a day year round had only about half the death rate over 12 years of those who walked less than one mile a day, according to a study in the January 8 New England Journal of Medicine. A Small Northwest Trek

Do you ever just want to take off and go somewhere to get away from everyday and world event pressures? Take a tiny trip somewhere.

Okay. I’ll admit it. The past month broke my spirit a bit and it was difficult to come back to earth. But I’m back now and ready to share a recent trip with you.

I’m a Washington State resident. I’m also am a grandmother and part of a loving extended family of many generations. These include aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Seeing family is often at the root of our travels when I have a need to escape the nest, so visiting family seemed just the prescription for a vacation from the world.
